Hello Everyone and Welcome to the President’s Message Corner! On behalf of the entire Medford Business Association Board, I would like to say Happy New Year and thank you for a successful 2018. I want to personally thank the 2018 Executive Board for their hard work and dedication throughout the year and especially to Bill Stauts in his role as Past President. I also want to send a special thank you to Adam Drewry who stepped down from the board at the end of 2018. We are greatly appreciative his many years of service and commitment as our Treasurer and we welcome Katie Campbell with open arms as she fills the role of Treasurer. During the 2018 year we once again had 2 very successful events; The Art, Wine & Music Festival in conjunction with the classic car show which was held in June and the Oktoberfest which was held in September. These events could not have taken place without the hard work and dedication of the workers and volunteers, the sponsors, the participants, and of course the Medford Community. We will once again host these events in 2019, and will now also be hosting the Dickens Festival! So be sure to check out the Event Page for more information.

I want to welcome the new members and alternates of our Board:
Katie Campbell - Padden Cooper
Scott Smith - OceanFirst Bank
Eric Moore - Lesha Studios
Joel Scholtz - Cruise Planners
Joseph Dumont - Dumont Enterprise Holdings
Meredith Pollock - Roast Coffee Co

I also want to welcome the New Members of our organization. We had over a dozen new businesses join in 2018 and so far in 2019. Welcome to all of them!

Medford Township is a great place to live, work, and play. In a recent meeting, Mayor Watson discussed what’s coming to Medford and about the successful events that Medford has been hosting. We also heard from many of the nonprofit organizations in town about upcoming events they will be hosting. There is a lot happening here in Medford and we need to get the word out. Sharing information about our events helps keep the public aware of what is happening in Medford. While Social Media is an extremely useful tool for sharing important information, we need to remind ourselves that not everyone is on social media and it’s important to stop and talk to your neighbors and verbally communicate what’s happening.

I want to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of shopping local and using your local services. If you like having a community with businesses and services, then it is important to utilize them to keep them here. Sometimes it might be easier to go online, but it also takes away from the face to face interaction with each other. Shopping at your local store is not just a purchase, it’s an experience. Enjoying a stroll on the avenue, walking with your family from store to store, meeting the local business owners, it’s an opportunity to create lasting memories and meet new people. This year, with all the many resolutions you made, try adding just one more; commit to shopping local more often.
